Too busy? Join our volunteer rota and help as little as once a year, without the long-term commitment.

Too Busy for a Regular Role? Join the Rota
Keen to help but worried you’re too busy? Our adult rota might be the solution.
Help out as often as three times a month, or as little as once a year — without the hassle of long training. It’s a great way to pass on your knowledge and experience to young people without a big commitment.
Parents, carers, friends — everyone’s welcome. If you’ve got a skill or a story worth sharing, why not come along?
Even once a year can make a huge impact.
Make a Big Impact Behind the Scenes
Not all volunteers work directly with young people — but every role makes a difference.
Behind the scenes, you might:
-
Support volunteers with your people and leadership skills
-
Spread the word about Scouts to attract new members
-
Help with admin, fundraising, finances, or governance
-
Keep things running smoothly — from serving tea and coffee, to tidying up, driving, or keeping our meeting place in tip-top shape
Your skills are valuable — and we’d love to have you on the team.
More comfortable behind the scenes?
You don’t need to work face-to-face with young people to make a big difference. Your support frees up volunteers to focus on what they do best: teaching skills for life. Plus, it’s a great chance to pick up new skills yourself.
Got a few hours a month? Get in touch — we’d love to hear from you.
Top notch volunteer training
You don’t need to be an expert to get stuck in with Scouts — we’ll give you all the training and support you need.
Our award-winning volunteer training is:
-
Flexible – learn at your own pace, in a way that suits you
-
Practical – packed with tips you’ll actually use
-
Recognised – skills you can take beyond Scouts, into work and everyday life
No tests. No stress. Just the confidence to make a difference.
Available Roles

Chair of Trustees
Run a tight ship (with just enough fun). As Chair of Trustees, you’ll steer the Scout Group behind the scenes — making sure every young person gets the best start to their next big adventure.

Young Leader Mentor
Help teenage volunteers shine. As a Young Leader Mentor, you’ll be their guide, sounding board, and personal cheer squad.

Safeguarding? Non-negotiable.
Every regular volunteer’s has an enhanced DBS check and gets regular safeguarding training. Helpers and those on our adult rota get our Yellow Card — a clear, simple guide to keeping young people safe. Behind the scenes, we’re backed by the national Scouts Safeguarding team, making sure we’re always doing things right.
Because you can’t build confidence, resilience and independence without a rock-solid foundation of trust and safety.
