Scouts - 10½ to 14 years
Jump in and get muddy. Give back and get set. Scouts ignore the butterflies and go for it, and soon so will you.

Who are Scouts?
Scouts are a go-getting bunch of young people aged 10½ to 14 who aren't afraid to roll up their sleeves and dive in. They:
-
Learn new skills (some they didn’t even know existed)
-
Make new friends who feel more like teammates
-
Go on big adventures — down the road, across the country, or even further
-
Stay curious, ask questions, and try things just to see what happens
-
Lend a hand, lift others up, and make a real difference in their communities
They're explorers, problem-solvers, tent-pitchers, pancake-flippers, future-leaders — and sometimes all of that in one night.
Every Friday from 7:30pm to 9:30pm, we meet at Jesmond Parish Church to take on the tiny task of changing the world — one game, badge, and muddy boot at a time.
What do Scouts do?
Being a Scout means discovering the world on your own terms — learning to make the most of what you’ve got, wherever you are, whoever you are. It’s about building confidence, finding your people, and picking up real skills that stick.
Here’s just a taste of what our Scouts get up to:
-
Exploring new places (and getting muddy doing it)
-
Playing games that get hearts racing and brains buzzing
-
Starting small, dreaming big
-
Listening, helping out, mucking in
-
Getting seriously creative — with paint, puppets or pancakes
-
Trying things for the first time — and then trying again
-
Finding their voice, their spark, their way of leading
It’s not just about what we do — it’s how we do it. With kindness. With curiosity. With sleeves rolled up and eyes wide open.
And the best bit?
Every Scout spends at least four nights away each year. That might mean a sleepover at the hall, a hike with a packed lunch and a sense of direction (hopefully), or a full-on camping adventure with Cubs and marshmallows and stories around the fire. These nights away are where the magic happens — where confidence grows, independence kicks in, and memories get made.
Scouts leave each week with muddy shoes and new stories to tell — and they come back ready for more.
